Personal History Chris was born on Earth in San Francisco, CA. His father was an Admiral that worked in Starfleet Intelligence. His mother consistently studied. His parents were both mountain climbers. They died in a climbing accident. He was 14 months old. His sister, Tiffany was 3 years old and she lost control. After the accident their Grandmother on his father’s side raised them. Both Tiffany and Chris moved to Fort Wayne, IN and stayed there until he graduated high school. When Chris was 8 years old his grandmother, April sent him to Vulcan for a year for him to get a grip on his emotions. Chris Barks was valedictorian in his class in high school. During high school he got in trouble and was held back a year because he was failing two classes, due to him being withdrawn. He managed to turn it around. After high school he APPLIED FOR Starfleet academy. He was rejected the first time. He studied for two years consistently in Math and Science. He applied again and was accepted.

Academy Days: His first year focused on his major. He wanted to specialize in warp and impulse engines. He did very well. He received the highest grades in the class for engineering. He was given tests on warp engines from various classes of ships. He did exceptional well. His second year focused more on weapons and security protocols. He thought it was alright not really his thing. His third year he looked at command. He was sent in the sim trainer as an engineer and then as the Captain. His fourth year they brought HIM BACK to the main focus in engineering. He graduated third in his class.

His first assignment was the shipyards on Utopia Plantia. He closely studied the Defiant Class. He has a fondness for the class efficant and small/ He took an assignment aboard the USS Bings a Defiant Class starship and served as the impulse specialist engineer. He was there for five years. He was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. After this assignment he was sent to the USS Freedom a Sovereign Class Starship. He was head of a repair team on board that ship. He managed to bring the impulse engines up in efficiency by 25%. He then was able to get the slip stream drive to work on the Freedom and they traveled it for three minutes. He enjoyed the assignment. He was then assigned to the USS Carmon and Excelsior Class starship and his primary focus was to bring the efficiency up he pushed the engines too hard and they blew out on him The accident caused serious problems in the ship and the USS Carmen was adrift for 3 days because of it. He decided not to get pushy again and his arrogance level went down as a result. He was reassigned to a Miranda class starship the USS Fury. He was made the Assistant Chief Engineering Officer. He and the Chief Engineer butted heads consistently. Once he made a critical mistake the chief had to report it. There was a mark put in his record for that incident. He was then transferred to an Ambassador class USS Marko. He was given the position of an engineer as a refresher for that mistake. Chris hated getting the demotion, but he knew it was for the a good reason. He thought he would do the same thing if someone under him made the same mistake he did. Once he encountered a damaged vessel and was able to assist them without waking any one on the command staff. It turned out to be a trap and the enemy vessel fired on the USS Marko so Lieutenant Barks returned fire and then the ship fired again, disabling the warp drive. The blast woke the Captain up and he ran to the bridge in his sleep wear. The CO looked into the incident and found that Lieutenant Barks didn’t hail them first. After which LT Barks was taken to command school for a year as well as tactical studies to prevent the mistake. After that he was assigned to the Galaxy class USS Princeton he got some bridge command time as well he took his team and made sure that all of the shuttles were able to do at least Warp 3. His team worked well together due to their good communication. Once during a training exercise the engineering department managed to get the saucer section impulse engines slightly faster then the stardrive impulse engines, since the saucer section does have warp the Captain of the Princeton wanted the impulse engines of the Princeton working really well. His team was called upon to transport down to a planet when a shuttle had crashed landed due to engine failure. The chief engineer had betrayed the crew and he was a member of Section 31. Chris was not able to save the shuttle, but managed to get the crew off of the planet. He informed the Captain and the CO decided to have Chris as his Chief engineer, which he continued his tour as. After the tour he was assigned to Deep Space 1 as the Chief engineer. The space station was an old Cardassian “Nor” class. The food replications were a constant problem. Since he was new he would reach out to Chief Miles O’Brien on Deep Space Nine. He had to consistently manage the technologies between the two species, he managed to do well with it. The station constantly had incoming ships with repair needs and he had to learn about different technologies. After two years there LTJG Barks was re-assigned to the Klingon Vorcha Class IKS Huma. The Captain Gok didn’t like Chris at all. He had to learn about klingon engine systems as well as other systems such as weapons. He managed to get the phaser banks 20% more effective. At first the crew of the Huma didn’t like him but about after 2 months they warmed up to him and the crew ate together. They even made him a Klingon Uniform with the accurate rank equivalent for a Klingon Officer. After years of service they gave him a grand ceremony for departing and Chris was reassigned as the Chief Engineering Officer of the USS GRAND CANYON an Oberth starship. He only have one engineering officer on that ship. He did well. He managed to get the ship through sticky situations and also got some more bridge command time. The Commanding Officer a Commander Right appreciated it and after two years award him a commendation. Chris then wanted to work with state of the art so he saw posting for an Assistant Chief Engineering Officer with a rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and accepted the position on the Prometheus Class USS Ares. After his assignment to the USS Ares as the Chief Engineering officer Chris, did something most aren't able to do he skipped the rank of Lieutenant and was made a Lieutenant Commander due to his high school of executive officer school and served as the First officer for the USS Cochrane, when the CO resigned Chris took command with a promotion to Commander and then Captain.
