Personal History Sean Patrick Riley was born in Olympus City, Mars, to Gunnery Sergeant Seamus Riley and his wife Evelyn. When he was two, his family was transferred to Kivas Prime, home of the 5th Marine Division, where his father was assigned. At age 6, the family was again transferred, this time to the Federation embassy on Qo'nos. Seamus had a grudging respect for the Klingons' prowess as warriors, and his son spent most of his time with the sons of Commander Mal'Kor of the House of Gin'dak, learning how to fight and how to win. Seamus, nearing mandatory retirement, accepted the post of NCOIC of the embassy's security detachment in order to remain on Qo'nos to retire, so the family was posted there for almost a decade. When Sean was 15, he was 'adopted' by the House of Gin'dak, and underwent the Rite of Ascension with his 'brother' Pok. He was given a dak'tagh dagger with the family's crest on it as a gift. Sean thought about attending the Academy, but decided to enlist in the Marines like his father. While in Basic Training, he was recommended for specialized training, and upon completing the School of Infantry, he underwent the selection process for Scout Sniper School. He served in this capacity for several years, and was asked to volunteer for temporary duty with Starfleet Special Operations. He agreed, and for the rest of his enlisted career, he carried out missions for the Federation that only the upper echelons of Starfleet and the Federation Council have access to. His service records from this time are sealed under Omega level clearance. Eventually he burned out, and was remanded to Starfleet Medical for psychological evaluation. He was deemed fit for duty. While on Earth, he met a young Orion named Karina, and the two saw a lot of each other while he was there. He was also asked by Brigadier General Austin Travis, a member of the SFMC General Staff on Earth, to serve as his junior aide de camp. (Travis was one of the few officers who knew what Sean had been doing, and had promised Seamus, an old friend, that he'd look after him.) Sean was sent through Officer's Candidate School, and assigned to Travis' staff. He and Karina were married, and while vacationing on Bajor, decided to adopt a Bajoran orphan, since human and Orion DNA incompatibility made having their own child impossible. He spent six years on Earth, and was promoted to First Lieutenant. He was then told that he had to do a tour on starship duty to make Captain, so he applied and was assigned to the USS Arcadia.

PATIENT PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION
DR. PHILLIP MOREAU, LT CMDR, STARFLEET MEDICAL.

Subject: Riley, Sean P, Gunnery Sergeant.
Gunnery Sergeant Riley is probably one of my least cooperative patients, although since he is under so many secrecy clauses he can't really talk much about his experiences. Overall, in addition to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, he feels a high level of guilt. Not by his actions in combat. He feels those to be totally justified. He seems more ambivalent about his failure to save his teammates. While he can't get into the operational details, I'm under the impression that on his last mission several of them were killed in action, and he feels he could have done more to save them. However, he is psychologically sound, and it is my opinion that no further evaluation of this particular patient is required. It is my determination that he is fit for duty, although I would highly recommend against sending him back to Special Operations in the immediate future.
