Danai Dona Ferentes
Episode 4 - Truth, Justice, and the Federation Way
Location: USS Themyscira
Timeline: MD 3 (March 5, 2093)
Oliver glanced around the brig through the force field. It's his first time setting foot on a Luna class ship, but more important, or rather more ironic, it's the same ship he had been slated to take command of after the Bunker Hill was put in for a complete refit. But some construction issues delayed the Themyscira's commissioning, and he ended up with the Arcadia. If he had indeed taken command of the Themhyscira where Nami came from, then this was just another proof that her traveling back in time had already changed the time line. Another war with the Dominion was no longer a certainty. Even if it were to happen, it still might not turn out so badly for the Federation as it did in her timeline. He had the feeling, however, that none of it mattered to Nami. Perhaps there was still a part of her that he could reach out to, and he hadn't given up on her completely. But she must be stopped, one way or another.
A groan from the bench behind him took him out of his thoughts. Turning around, he walked over to where Korra was lying. With a small smirk he said, "You just had to punch Hekoa, didn't you?"
Korra rubbed her temples and shot him a look. "I was trying to save us."
Oliver chuckled. "Well, the last time I checked neither of us could move faster than five simultaneous phaser beams." motioning at the Marine, he added, "And I was right."
"At least I tried to do something." retorted Korra as she stood up from the bench. "You were just standing there, letting them shove us to the brig."
Oliver lowered his voice so that the security officer at the brig's control station wouldn't hear them. "Come on, Korra, I always have a plan. You should know that."
"Yeah? We are still in the brig, you genius."
Before Oliver could respond, the doors to the brig hissed open.
Themyscira's brig. Simple to find really. A quick glance had Chrysanthe walking in, confidence to the fore. She dismissed the security officers with a cold word and once they were gone, she locked down the system, using the pass words she had put in place the last time she was on the Themie. With their privacy secured, she turned to the prisoners. And then she walked forward and deactivated the cell.
"Capt'n" she drawled.
Korra dashed over and looked straight at the other woman, raging fire burning in her eyes. "You! I'm gonna beat the crap out of you so bad you won't even know what your own name is!"
Oliver held her back. At least he tried.
"Korra, Korra, calm down . . ."
The Marine turned, and she was most definitely not calmed.
"Don't you tell me to calm down! I'm gonna rip the traitor's head off!!"
Oliver grabbed both of her hands gently, but firmly.
"If you rip her head off, then my entire plan goes down the drain."
Korra looked even more aggravated.
"What are you talking about?! What plan?"
Chrys gave a dramatic sigh. "Why does everyone think the worst of me? Ah well." she looked at Korra. "If you think I would sell out the Federation, what do you think Nami thinks? I am loyal to the Federation, Captain. I always have been. And the Captain and I worked this out together." A smirk crossed the blond's lips. "My background works to our advantage."
Korra looked at Oliver, then Chrys, then back at Oliver.
"What's she talking about?"
Oliver let go of the Marine and took one step back from her. She's not gonna like what he was about to tell her.
"As we went over the Themyscira's database, we discovered that Ishikawa had been working with someone from the outside. We don't know who that person is, but we do know that he or she was the one that helped Ishikawa perfect the genophase virus against the Founders and that the individual has also made it to the present. We could arrest Ishikawa and her entire crew, but it would not matter if her partner is still on the loose out there with the knowledge to reproduce the virus. Ishikawa would not cooperate, and I knew she would try to escape and complete her mission, so the plan was for Lieutenant Capulet to gain her trust and help her 'escape' from the Arcadia so that she could lead us to that mysterious partner of hers. That way we can put an end to the threat of genocide and war once and for all."
He paused briefly and glanced around the cell.
"Well, this wasn't exactly part of the plan." he looked back to the Marine. "And you were definitely not part of the plan."
Korra blinked and then blinked again.
"That's the stupidest plan I have ever heard!" she growled. "It's reckless! And why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I knew you wouldn't like it."
"Because it's stupid!"
Korra growled again and slammed her fist against the wall. Turning back to Oliver, she jabbed a finger at him.
"One of those days you'll get yourself into a trouble that you can't talk your way out of, and I won't be there to save your sorry ass, Oliver."
With that she turned and grumble her way back to the bench. She had had enough of him for one day.
Oliver let out a small sigh. He'll talk to her later, but right now there's more urgent matter to attend to. Turning to Chrys, he said, "Report, Lieutenant."
"Well, they just blew up a pursuit vessel. I am not sure of its designation but it was not the Arcadia. And the Captain needs a bullet to her head." She added as she walked over to the console. "I have hacked into the system for you."
Oliver frowned. That was not part of the plan, either.
With its far more advanced weapons and defensive systems from twenty-five years in the future, the Themyscira could easily overpower most ships currently in service with Starfleet, which was one reason his plan didn't involve any other ships. So why was another ship sent after the Themyscira? Perhaps I'lien informed Command after his kidnapping, but why didn't Command send the Arcadia herself? They knew very well the Arcadia was one of the few ships in the Fleet that could take on the Themyscira in a firefight. An ominous feeling began to creep up inside of him. Pushing it aside, he said to Chrys, "Have you been able to find out either the identity or the location of Ishikawa's partner?"
"Not yet. Despite my actions, she is keeping things close to the chest." Chrys replied. "I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't one really, and its just something she thought up."
Oliver nodded. "Possibly, but keep digging, and when you can, contact the Arcadia. Apprise Commander Slvar of our situation. Tell him to keep his distance from the Themyscira for now."
"Aye, sir" she handed the phasers and turned to Korra. "Now you bash me up, OK?"
Korra looked up from the bench. She's still upset at Oliver for being reckless and for keeping her in the dark - but mostly for keeping her in the dark - so when someone volunteered herself for a bashing, she was not gonna be bashful about it and turn it down.
She took the offered phaser and smirked. "This is gonna hurt."
