Mission: Episode 0 - Semper Fidelis
Location: Sickbay, USS Bunker Hill

Zax made his way down the corridor from sickbay where his great grandson was. The boy somehow found his way into the marine barracks and wound-up falling down a ladder. Just as he turned a corner, he came crashing into another person.

"Dammit, will you watch where you're going already?" said Louis as he clutched the bottle of wine he had been carrying much closer to his chest. "Geez, it's getting to where you can't walk anywhere on this damned ship without someone walking right over the top of you like you don't even exist in that space-time," he grumped to himself.

Zax rubbed his forehead where he'd come into contact with something hard and pointy. Then he saw the glass and the bubbles it was holding back. A familiar yearning washed over him as his tongue began to water at the sight of the bottle. Then just as quickly as his urges came, be pushed them back and looked up at the officer.

"Sorry," he said. "I'm just...a little preoccupied."

"I'm sure you are," replied Louis with a hint of a grin on his face. "This little sweetheart was about to make its way to the lounge if you'd care to accompany me," he added with an even larger grin. "See, I stocked both lounges with lots of my fun little blends, but this particular little baby, this blend, it's a family and personal secret. I only ever bring it out on special occasions, and I figured arriving on a new ship, making new friends, and most importantly, meeting other people was definitely something worth celebrating," he explained as his grin widened further.

The El Aurian swallowed a lump that was forming in his throat as he listened. His mouth was just watering at the sound of his 'Collection'. But again, he held himself back and composed himself. "Well, I would be up for heading to one of the lounges for a drink," he said. "Though I think I'll skip on the wine tonight."

"That's fine," said Louis with a hint of caution in his voice. "It tends to sell out very quickly and is very precisely formulated. Two or three shots of it is usually enough to knock a human off their feet," he said as he laughed. "I tend to be highly tolerant to it because I've been making it since I was a few years shy of being a teenager," he added as he chuckled. "By the way, I'm Louis, Louis Champagne," he said as he extended his hand to the other man.

Zax had to hold himself back from swiping the bottle from the taller man's hand. 'I really need to match some socks,' he inwardly said to himself. Then he noticed the out-stretched hand and realized what was happening. He gasped hold of the limb with his left hand, momentarily forgetting that he was using his old prosthetic. "Zax, ship's navigator," he replied, though his eyes kept darting towards the booze. He couldn't help but wonder what he'd done to piss off the Shaper's this week for them to send him into this man's path.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Zax," said Louis as he tried to get his hand back. "There's a party going on in Seven Forward if you'd care to join us. We're getting together to celebrate the new ship, the new crew, and the new mission. There's also bound to be a great poker game," he added.

The Pilot arched a brow at Champagne's mention of a party, before he could apply the filter over his mouth, he spouted out: "So you're the wipper-snappers disterbin' the dang peace 'round here. I called ship security about the noise hours ago!" Had anyone else been listening, then they might have taken the El Aurian's tone for the real thing, but the grin in his eyes said other-wise.

"Well, given that the party hasn't even begun to get wild yet, I highly doubt if anyone has called security yet," said Louis, not sure whether to mention that a good portion of the senior staff was going to be there. He was enjoying the conversation and was looking forward to getting to know Zax a lot better in the near future.

The El Aurian scoffed in good-humor as he reached for the turbolift call button. "When you get to my age, kid, you'll start to see things differently."

"I suppose that may be true, however, I doubt that I could possibly hit your age," replied Louis with a grin as he looked over at the strangely young looking man who was talking like an older man.

"Never say never, kid. Stranger things have happened," He said with a grin. Then his eyes pulled, letting his age show through for the briefest of moments. "The universe has a funny way of making the impossible happen." Though he looked on with a wan gaze, there was a hopeful tone to his voice. One which spoke of experience, and age.

Noticing the meaning behind the words, Louis waited for Zax to follow him to the lounge.

Giving the human a quick nod, the pilot entered the turbolift and called out: "Seven Forward."
